Moms get your daughters!

This bed has to be one of my favorite updates.  It had lots of character before, but there were some major flaws.

There was quite a bit of ware and tear on this old thing, mostly cosmetic.  So here she is now and I love how she turned out.   If I had a daughter, this would be her bed.   IT'S SO STINKIN' CUTE!!!!

Can you tell how much I am loving this color!

Here it is again before

And after.

Love it!!!  Almost makes me want to try for a girl, again.....or maybe not.

Short and sweet

Here is a before of a little nightstand (used to be a sewing table) I managed to get my hands on.  It was definitely in need of a little TLC.

Don't worry, this piece may be tired, but it just needs a little face-lift.

For Sale: Nightstand

Here is a sneak peak of what's next!

Time Flies

Time flies.....

Wow, it seems like just yesterday that I packed my little storage room shop on a Craigslist binge.  I am pleased to say that, although it is still very crowded, I have made some small steps to recovering a "workable" work area.

If you remember, I already had a desk that needed a little help to say the least.

Well here she is in all her glory.

I just love the hardware on this piece.  It has to be one of my favorites.

Here is a before shot of the chair.

And the after.

I contemplated on painting the chair white, but sometimes I hate all the matchy-matchy stuff.

If you like these, then check back in a day or two.  I have a bed and a nightstand that are almost completed as well.

Big Time

Taking Advantage of a REALLY BIG WALL!

Our basement houses a large family room, and if you are under the age of 12 you would probably use it as a Nerf war zone.  Due to the large size of the room, there is A LOT of wall space to fill. This can be very challenging, since most pictures are not that large and you would have to have a Gazillion  to even make some sort of visual impact on the wall.  Not to mention the swiss cheese affect from all of those nail holes!
So here is what I have done to deal with the problem.  There is no before and after on this one,  just imagine a big blank wall.

I used painters tape and measured off my boxes and then painted using a "Ralph Lauren" glaze and a stippling brush.  It is also the same paint that is on the bottom of the wall.  It adds a little drama and makes the photos more pronounced.  I also added a vinyl expression and  I am not 100% sure on the "Brothers" vinyl above my first picture. I think the font should match the expression in the last photo.  Feel free to opine.

It's a PARTY!!!!!!

Today our youngest turned 2!  As with most things in my life, I procrastinated in ordering a cake for the big day.  As a result, Jean, was already booked with other cakes.  So I decided to make the cake myself.  (Cue the music from the Twilight Zone).   This was my first attempt at decorating a cake  and I have never made fondant icing.  Overall  I am pretty please with how it turned out.  Don't get me wrong, I ain't got nothing on Charm City Cakes!   I must admit, I had a great neighbor who gave me the recipes and talked me through A LOT of the process.  She was always available to answer any questions and offered tons encouragement. THANK YOU Michelle!!!

My mom, also stopped by to give a hand whenever she had a free moment and that was immensely helpful too. Thanks Mom, you're the BEST!

This year we didn't spend a lot on gifts, since we just had Christmas.  I did however spend a little more time making dipped pretzels and sea glass candy.  I managed to find the gum balls and the sixlets at a local party store.

I had so much leftover icing and I couldn't let it go to waste.  So, we made cupcakes.

I found these cute "Happy Birthday" candles at Toys R Us.

Every Birthday Boy needs a banner!

Isn't he CUTE!!!!

Happy Birthday Hayden!  You have enough energy to power an entire metropolitan area and I only hope that I can keep up with you this next year!

When the cat is away.....

Last weekend my two oldest boys had a swim meet in Topeka, KS.  Since we have a very active and highly energetic  2 year old, I stayed at home to tackle the post holiday take down and cleaning.  It was just me, Hank, lot of decorations, cleaning and Craigslist (big problem).  For those of you who know me, know that  I am fanatical out rehabs and you also know that my husband is fanatical about his garage  .  Unfortunately most of my rehabs have occurred in the garage.    We have recently tried to fix this by creating a little workshop area for me in the storage area of our house.   Here is a desk rehab in my little workshop that needs some serious organizing.

The problem is I am an avid Craigslist shopper and there were to many treasures  that just needed a little love.  Not to mention the fact that I had my husband's truck!!!!  So I found this......

and this,

and this,

and these,

and, well you get the picture.

I found lots of future projects and unfortunately my husband found them all in the garage.  Sorry Honey.  Luckily we got most everything to fit in the shop!

Let me know if you see anything you like and we can come up with a design concept.

Befores and afters

Happy New Years!!!!

If you can't tell from the sparse posts, I am new to blogland and I am slowly working to change that.  Although my posts are limited, that doesn't mean I haven't been busy.  Here are some furniture transformations that I have done.  I have to admit, I am the worst with documenting things.  I often just dig in and get my hands dirty and then realize  I should have taken a before shot.  These are a few before and afters that I did manage to come by.

Not sure what kind of hardware this had, but it was definately in need of a little rehab.

A creamy white finish and new hardware, what a difference.   Now he needs a friend.

This is another example of my lack of documentation.  Here is the before of a footboard to a bed and the after of both the head and the footboard. So much better. What you don't see here is how scratched and damaged the footboard actually was.  It was a great transformation.

Here is a set that had a really interesting diamond pattern that I hated to paint over.  I don't think the pictures do it justice, but you get the idea.

Here is the after....

And one of my favorites.......

And the after....

I hope you had a wonderful 2011 and that this new year will grant you lots of blessings and much love.
