Busy bee lacks completion

Well, I am knee deep in projects galore.  I was just about to finish the chairs to the compass table, when I ran out of paint. Go figure.  Paint has been ordered and in the mean time, I am working on a bedroom set for my neighbors daughter.  She has made the transition to a beautiful teenager and needs a little update on her room. So I am taking the little girl furniture and putting a more sophisticated look to it.  I hope to have pictures when it's complete--hopefully soon.  As usual I am lacking on some photos, so forgive me for that.  Sometimes I just get so excited to start a project I just completely forget.  Old habits die hard.

Check back soon for photos of the bedroom set!  I think you will like it.

It's the little things that really do make me happy!

We have this really long family room in our basement.  I am almost too embarrassed to show the pictures, but I am only human.   This is the room that houses many a nerf war, forts, and lots of movies.  My kids love to trash it and so do I, as my shop is just on the other side.  Its easy to hide, being in the basement.  If we don't want to look at the mess, we just close the door to the stairs.  So here is the mess we are currently housing!  Brace yourselves, cause it ain't pretty.

I know, it's a complete disaster!  Yes, that is a chair that is upside down on the fooseball table.  It is my latest craigslist find and the reason for this post.   My dear sweet hubby wanted a table and chairs for the basement and I happily found this on craigslist.  I am not sure that this is exactly what he had in mind.
I love these chairs!  A complete throw back to the 70's!

The table is ok, but I know that it will look so much better in and old white.  My very good friend Terri suggested that I paint a checker board in the center.  I think that is absolutely BRILLIANT!!

It looks like there is some water damage, so I feel that painting this puppy will really give it a whole new life.

Now for the chairs.  I am planning on recovering them and have a couple of fabrics in mind.  I just need a little help in picking the best one.  Here are two that I have narrowed it down to, the first is my favorite.

Waverly Lovely Lattice Lagoon

Waverly Sun N Shade Lovely Lattice Lagoon

Waverly Ellis Turquoise

Both can be found at

Tell me which one you like.

You've come along way baby....

I have been so excited about the latest rehab!  It's feels like Christmas and I have this awesome gift to give someone and can't hardly wait until they open it.  First let me go to this table and chairs I picked up on craigslist.  It is a great circular table with claw feet, that a playful German Shepard apparently thought was a chew toy.  Nothing a little wood filler and some sanding can't handle.

I had pinned a table on pinterest from Red Hen Home that was AWESOME.   I knew I  was going to try this and this was the perfect table.   Vintage Revivals has a perfect tutorial on making a compass rose.  So I set off to work.

Annie Sloan's Old White

Plus a little sanding

I started the compass rose with a crazy BIG brush.  It was too big, so I made a quick call to the hubby and he picked me up a set of great small brushes.  This made all the difference in the world.

It was right about here that I started to question myself.  I know I am not the best free hand detail painter.  But I committed myself to the process and stuck to it.

After a little more distressing, a coat of clear wax and a touch of dark wax the top is finally done!  I am so happy with how it looks.

I wanted it to look like something off of an old weathered boat and I think it does.  Perfect for a lake house. I still have to wax the base of the table, but I just had to share this.  Now I have four chairs to do.  I am thinking about putting the letters NESW on the back of the chairs.  Opinions???

Side table revamp

So here is a little side table I acquired on Craigslist.  Very rustic and charming to begin with, but needs a little

It had a couple of holes that needed filled, easy enough.

Here it is finished, not lots of details here folks.

Lots of character now, don't ya think!
